The sun is setting
a permanent shade of yellow.
The day ends, begins
fittingly
with the proverbial
light at the end of the tunnel, mine
nuggets of hope, realization...
...and release.

The day ends flittingly
these final words,
last licks
the sour-lemon tang
of cavernous canaries,
the tpft of Sylvester
tasting the tragedy
upon my tongue.

One page left,
is my last will and testament.
Legally bound
by the distance underground
six feet deep, and six more long
entrenched
and epitaph scratched
just below the surface
clawing for release.
